Student Submissions: Exempt Review

Please allow at least TWO FULL WORK WEEKS (excluding holidays, weekends, and university breaks) for Screened for Exempt reviews.

University and Federal policies require that each project involving studies on humans be reviewed to consider:

  1. the rights and welfare of the individual(s) involved,
  2. the appropriateness of the methods used to secure informed consent, and
  3. the risk and potential benefits of the investigation.

Things to know before you begin:

Formal faculty approval is required BEFORE you submit your proposal. The approval form is available in the sidebar.

All researchers must complete research ethics training and provide documentation of completion with review requests. Training materials will be made available through the campus LMS. Requests for access to the course can be made HERE.

You will need to submit a copy of your completion certificate with this proposal unless it is already on file with the IRB committee. Training approval is valid for three years.

Complete each item as applicable. If an item is not applicable, indicate this by 'N/A'.
