Prijedor: Lives from the Bosnian Genocide
The exhibit Prijedor: Lives from the Bosnian Genocide tells the story of genocide in the Bosnian city of Prijedor between 1992 and 1995. The thirty-four display panels that constitute the exhibit combine information from official sources, including the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, with original photographs and compelling testimony from genocide survivors now living in St. Louis who were interviewed as part of Fontbonne University's Bosnia Memory Project.
Developed by a collaboration between the Union of Citizens of the Municipality of Prijedor, the St. Louis Holocaust Museum and Learning Center, Fontbonne's Bosnia Memory Project, and the American Red Cross of St. Louis, Amir Karadzic, Patrick McCarthy, and Barbara Nwacha, the exhibit premiered at the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center in Creve Coeur, Missouri. Between November 25, 2007 and April 16, 2008, it was visited by 10,729 people. Since then, it was shown in locations across the United States.
After an eight-year run, the exhibit was retired in 2015. A virtual version of the exhibit is planned.
