I became interested in this particular area of speech-language pathology during my undergraduate course work in audiology and aural rehabilitation. After finding out that there are many speech-language pathologist who feel unprepared to work with this population, I felt the desire to specialize in this area to maximize the communicative outcomes of individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing. I chose Fontbonne to pursue this field because of its long history working with deaf individuals. Additionally, as I experienced as an undergraduate student, the professors are very knowledgeable of their field and the small University lends itself to a very personalized educational experience.
