I was drawn to the IPEI program because I have always been interested in working in the early intervention field. It wasn’t until my sophomore year of my undergraduate program that I realized I wanted to work with students who were Deaf or Hard of Hearing. I was hired at the Hope Institute in Springfield, Illinois as a summer camp specialist and it was my springboard into this population. I fell in love and knew that I had to apply for this grant program. As a member of the IPEI project, I have already been offered several amazing opportunities just in my first two semesters alone. I am hoping to build connections through the different professional development activities as well as the field experience in the future. I also hope to enhance the skills that I have been working on for the last four years to provide the best therapy I can.
