My mother is an SLP back home in Arkansas and she works with children that are deaf/hard of hearing. She would come home with stories of the families she worked with and that sparked a fire in me to look in to the population. From there I volunteered at the Arkansas School for the Deaf, fell in love with all the kids, and knew that was my calling. I have always wanted to do something that would either give back or impact another’s life, and this seemed like the perfect fit. I chose Fontbonne for many reasons: I just got married and I knew that I wanted to start my life with my husband in a place other than Arkansas, I wanted to challenge myself by moving away, and none of the other graduate school’s I applied to had as a great a program as Fontbonne.
