I knew I wanted to work with the deaf/hard of hearing population once I had an experience with adults with cochlear implants. I loved working with them but knew I still wanted to work with children. The mix of hearing loss and my passion for children were aligned when I heard about the IPEI Grant opportunity at Fontbonne. I chose this program for the opportunities to build relationships with other professionals in the field and learn best practices for children who are deaf/hard of hearing. It is a special experience to be taught by professors that are able to share their own experiences with the children they have worked with who are deaf/hard of hearing.
