Description
Born in Tesanj to father who fled from Doboj region due to the war and mother who was originally from Tesanj, Earliest memories are of life in St. Louis and living with her parents including playing outside with other Bosnians in her apartment complex, Feels that people in the United States are less friendly then in Bosnia, Parents do not speak about the war but knows the war caused her family to leave the country and caused her family to be separated, Lost an uncle and both grandfathers to the conflict, Visited Bosnia twice since leaving Bosnia due to the high cost of travel, Identifies as Bosnian and not American as she has no feeling that she belongs here, In Bosnia has a sense that she has connections to the country and places, Since moving to St. Louis has grown to appreciate her Bosnian heritage more, Future generations listening should not forget their heritage and culture and should attempt to learn the Bosnian language
