Born in St. Louis, Parents are both from Bosnia who fled during the war, Moved to St. Louis and struggled to find work and master the language, Mother is now fluent in English while father is less fluent, Has not ever experienced discrimination due to his Bosnian roots, Friend group from early life to now were mostly American with few Bosnians, Considered himself Bosnian American due to his Bosnian parents, Speaks Bosnian but cannot speak it well enough to move back to Bosnia, Visiting Bosnia is something he did as younger but now has not gone in 7 years, Family was effected by the war negatively by his parents having to leave the country while the war meant he was born in the United States with better opportunities, Enjoys both Bosnian food such as pita, grah but family also visits fast food establishments and cooks American food at home, Feels that parents have an expectation that he will marry a Bosnian person, Wants future generations to know that his life in the United States is not a struggle but his parents at the start were but now it is better as time goes by
