Born in St. Louis to parents from Bosnia, Father is from the city of Foca while mother is from the city of Srebrenica, Parents experienced the loss of countless family members during the war with a large number being killed during the genocide in Srebrenica, Parents forced to move many times within the country during the war until moving to St. Louis, Earliest memories are of visiting Bosnia and remember it as a place with great landscapes that had lots of family living there, Speaks with family about the events in the war due to her parents wanting to remember and know about the events, While in Bosnia visits memorials and museums to the victims of the war, Father was wounded during the war and still limps from the injury, Mother still has a fear that it will happened again, High expectations to success in school with anything less than A being viewed as not good enough, Parents strict to the point where almost everyone who visits home has to be Bosnian and Muslim, Identifies as Bosnian American and wants to keep her heritage for as long as possible and not forget where she is from, Plans on getting a dual citizenship from Bosnia if possible, Hopes that in the future Bosnians will still be talking about what happened and will be remembering the victims of the war.
