Born in Belgrade to parents who are from Serbia, Family has a ties in Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia, Grandmother on mothers side lived in Bosnia, Earliest memories are of spending time with family in the city, Has not visited Bosnia since grandmother passed away, Family plans to visit Serbia but is not exited to visit as she is not fluent in the language, Moved to the United States in 2008 after parents green card application was approved, In Serbia parents worked in a family owned pizzeria, Moved to St. Louis due to already having family members living in the city, Adapting to the United States was at first hard due to cultural and language differences, Did not want to live in the United States, Belives now that living in the United States provides you with a better opportunity for life, Practices Orthodox Christianity and still enjoys holiday of that faith in St. Louis, At earlier age was harassed by Bosnian students her age, Was fearful to say that she was Serbian, Father is a metro bus driver who experienced having an unknown liquid thrown on him while driving his route, Belives that education on the former Yugoslavia by teacher who do not hold a basis for either side is a good thing, Describes Serbia as a country that is healthier and has foods that are healthier, Includes lots of peppers and meals such as pita and cevapi, Belives that parents and herself have been Americanized, Cannot see her parents having a problem m with her dating outside her ethnic group, Believes what happened in Bosnia was a tragedy but she cannot be held responsible for the actions of others, Cannot see herself every going back to Serbia to live.
