Abstract
Courtright and Courtright (1976), in an analysis of covariance without the influence of the baseline, found the modeling procedure to be more effective as an instructional technique. The present study went a step further and examined the effectiveness of the strategies in an in-class probe. A significant difference could not be found in the averaged percentage scores between the two procedures. However the subjects in the modeling condition had significantly more correct responses on the probe than the subjects in the control group. A significant difference was not found between the subjects in the mimicry and control groups. From the tests of significance and resultant significant levels, it seems that the subjects in the modeling condition performed better on the probe than the subjects in either of the other conditions.
