When I was in my undergraduate program, I worked with a student who had hearing devices. I noticed that he did not respond to his name when called and had difficulty following conversation. At that time, I was under the impression that when a person received hearing devices they automatically understood spoken language. I was curious to learn more and started doing research about working with this population. Through my research into this topic, I stumbled upon Fontbonne University. I remembered hearing about how St. Louis was known for working with students who were deaf/hard-of-hearing and decided I would apply.
