George and GeorgyGirl
WHAT IS A GEORGE?
What do men say that I am? Some say a one-man underground, others say a radical Weekly, while others call me the “un-newspaper.”
What do I say that I am? I don’t say. I’m just GEORGE.
– GEORGE the 6th
The now-mysterious George appeared in 1968 or 1969 or possibly 1970, sometimes brightly colored, often hand-illustrated, full of news, gossip, poetry, and more. This digital collection showcases the mimeographed cut-and-paste style; some pages are faded and difficult to read. While we don't know much about George's birth, he was clearly a well-loved fixture during his brief time at Fontbonne. Here you can also find his sister Georgygirl, possibly a tongue-in-cheek response to George's often self-serious tone.
Please let us know about your memories of George. We'd love to learn more!
