After a decade with no campus newspaper, Fontbonne students began publishing The Fontbanner in 1983. This incarnation of the student paper covered big changes at Fontbonne, including lay (non-CSJ) leadership, the first male president, and the historic change from college to university. Through these articles, you can see Fontbonne's continued pride in its history as well as adoption of new fashions, technologies, and curriculum.

In 2011, the Fontbanner moved to an online platform. Foward-thinking archivists saved the articles published from 2011-2014, so you'll find those in this collection as well.

You can search issues for events or keywords or simply browse through the collection. Enjoy this time capsule of Fontbonne as it grows into the 21st century.

In 2020, Fontbonne University Archives received a generous grant from the Fontbonne Community Connection (FCC) to digitize all newsprint issues of the Fontbanner from 1983-2011. The FCC is a women's giving circle that funds projects proposed by Fontbonne staff, faculty, students, and student organizations. The grant proposals are a compilation of goals and dreams that are a priority but are beyond the scope of a current year's budget. We're so grateful for the FCC's continued support of the Archives and GriffinShare.
