Born in Maryland to parents from Kalesija and Konjević polje, Family moved to escape the genocide that was happening in the Podrinje region, Grandfather on mother side was killed in Srebrenica, Grew up with brother and sister and parents, Parents are still haunted by the events of the war and never speak about the events of the war, Grew up in a traditional Bosnian household with Bosnian culture and Bosnian language, Only began to learn English after starting school, Visits Bosnia every other year and enjoys the culture and seeing family, War has affected her family as both her parents were forced to move and both are still traumatized by their experiences, She is effected by never having a relationships with her grandfather, Bosnian heritage and the experiences of growing up as Bosnians are what makes her the person she is, What happened in Bosnia is hard and sometimes it leads to times of feeling horrible, Wants future generations to remember the events of the war and to also remember the Bosnian culture and traditions.
