Description
Born in Nashville after parents arrived as refugees from Bosnia via Germany, First years of life including traveling quite a bit to Bosnia and back to the United States, First memories are hazy and confusing shifting between countries, Mother is from the city of Tuzla while father is from Duvno now known as Tomislavgrad, Parents experienced having to leave their home and were constantly moving from place to place until settling down in St. Louis, When visiting Bosnia notices that Bosnian people there have a greater thankfulness for everything they have even the small things, Visiting Bosnia has become a lesser occurrence since it can be a financial burden, Bosnian heritage is a big part of her life and is happy to be different from everyone else, Remember sometimes as a child being upset that other children would celebrate Christmas and she did not, Enjoys her Islamic roots and enjoys the holidays of Bajram and Ramadan, Life has changed since first coming to the United States as she has gained more and more American culture and lost Bosnian culture, Bosnia itself has changed with more westernized ideals and cities btu there are still scars left from the war.
