Description
Born in St. Louis after parents arrived as refugees from the city of Kotorsko, Parents arrived with only two suitcases full of clothes and nothing else, Struggled to learn English and get accustomed to the country, During the war parents had a hard time finding food and relayed on food drops of aid that including water and food, Family visits house in Bosnia regularly and always spends the time visiting family, Bosnian Heritage makes him feel proud and unique but would also include American in his self-identification, War effected family by making them flee the country and come to St. Louis, Parents were religious at first and visited mosque but after a while these trips become less frequent, Family celebrates Eid and Ramadan with parents the only ones fasting, Celebrate Thanksgiving but without giving thanks but preparing food for their mother instead of her for them, War effected Kotosko by destroying parts of the city and still some parts are mined and off limits, Wants future generations listening to seek education and not have to go through with his parents went through.
