Abstract
The purpose of this study was threefold: (1) to review the literature in the area of children's literature and language development; (2) to provide an annotated bibliography of some good picture books written in the last five years (1974-1979) for young children (ages 5 - 7 ) ; and (3) to develop and validate a teaching strategy for developing vocabulary through the use of children's literature.
