Abstract

This thesis focuses on the methods for improving Nigerian banking services. The thesis explores what the Nigerian banks can do to improve their services.

There are both internal and external problems facing Nigerian banks.

1. Technology: banking in Nigeria has not been affected by the technological developments. About 90% of the banks are not yet computerized which contributes to the inefficiency of the banking services.

2. Identification: there are no state identification cards, and so it is very difficult to verify whether the person cashing a check is the one the check is made payable to.

I believe there are still profitable opportunities for the Nigerian banks. With time, they can adjust to the technological changes of the modern world and then reduce their inability to function effectively.

The thesis will deal with the methods to improve the Nigerian banking services and how Nigerian banks should be more effective in providing those services.
