Abstract
Japan is the world's leading investor in America. Since 1945, economic and Geo-political changes have lead to a strong economic and military alliance between the United States and Japan. Today's Japan commands a powerful, dynamic economy -- the second largest in the world -- and may become even more competitive with the United States by the year 2000. Japan is expanding its investments into the Hawaiian Hotel and Resort Industry in the United States. The Japanese have a strong holding in equity and property markets in Hawaii. Honolulu is distinct among US cities for its slew of Japanese development projects.
