Abstract
Jacob Steiner is a name which is often connected with the phrase "greatest geometer since Apollinarius." Yet to pursue this is almost frustrating because not much is written about Steiner or his works—except that he was great. There are reasons for both his greatness and the lack of literature. The basic reason for the lack of literature is that Steiner was so brilliant that proofs of things obvious to him are naturally deleted in his work, making him a difficult man to study. Also because of his brilliance Steiner's discoveries were so fast that there was no time for preliminary proofs. With or without proofs Jacob Steiner made many important contributions to synthetic and projective geometries. This paper aims at presenting some of his interesting and important contributions to mathematics.
