This thesis deals with the implementation of participative management in the United States Defense Aircraft Industry.
With decreases in defense budgets and increases foreign competition defense aircraft manufacturers must consider methods of improving their manufacturing processes. Many have turned to participatory management approaches as a means of increasing quality, productivity and efficiency. This thesis will review the progress this industry as made as well as examine what avenues are available to increase the effectiveness of the implementation process.
Finally, the thesis will provide a look at the future of the defense industry as a result of the change to participative management and identify issues confronting the defense aircraft manufacturer in the future.
