Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine which of sixteen different cuing techniques best facilitated a correct naming response for individual aphasic subjects. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the types of cues presented for only one of the six subjects. However, five of the six subjects achieved their highest rank score when the phonemic and object cue was presented. Although not proven statistically, this examiner believes that the phonemic and object cue is the most effective type of cue for five of the aphasic subjects tested. Further research needs to be done involving the implementation of cues in therapy to determine how effective cuing is to the individual aphasic patient.
