After a summer teaching physical education to students who are deaf/hard of hearing, I discovered a passion working with this population. I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the children in a school setting, and soon found out how important learning to communicate is. I wanted to be a part of helping children who are deaf/hard of hearing learn to communicate with others and very quickly changed my major from Pharmacy to Speech-Language Pathology. I love working with children and the IPEI project at Fontbonne allowed me to incorporate my passions into my field of study. I chose this program to learn best practices for working with children who are deaf/hard of hearing and to be able to collaborate with other professionals in the field.
