Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to determine the status of alternate communication in the Missouri State Schools for the Severely Handicapped. This paper will examine the relationship between the speech therapist's background and training and the type and frequency of the alternate communication systems used by means of a survey of the speech therapists employed by the Missouri State Schools for the Severely Handicapped.
