Abstract

This paper is presented to help facilitate the understanding needed to implement a QC and get increased productivity as a result of it. It begins with a short history of QCs followed by the construction and guidelines to their operation. Factors that effect the success of a QC and a comparative analysis between Japan and the U.S. follows. Next a look is taken at some successful and unsuccessful QCs in the U.S. along with the implementation process of a QC at the author's place of work. A general summary is made of the presented material along with concluding remarks on the viability of QCs as a tool to increase productivity.
